OBITUARY 
James "Bert" Bertrand Midgette, 85, of Newport, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Carteret General Hospital.  Mr. Midgette was born on November 28, 1924, in Elizabeth City to Evan James and Nancy James Williams Midgette.  He served his country in the U.S. Army and volunteered at the Carteret Correctional Center.


SERVICES

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ray Conner, officiating.  Committal will follow, with military honors, at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

His parents, Evan James Midgette and Nancy James Williams Midgette and first wife Mattie Cooper Midgette  preceded him in death.
 
VISITATION
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2010.
