OBITUARY
Elizabeth Mary (Betty) Salter of Marshallberg went to be with her Maker on Sunday, July 25, just four days before her 90th birthday.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 28th at 2:00 p.m. in Victoria Cemetery, Marshallberg, with the Rev. Ellis J. Bedsworth officiating.
Betty was born in Lewiston, Idaho and joined the U. S. Coast Guard during World War II. It was then that she met Roma Salter, got married and moved to Marshallberg. She had a long and good life.
She is survived by her three daughters, Maureen Harris and husband, Jim, of Marshallberg, Tweedles Harkey and husband, Larry, of Stacy and Bim Beaman and husband, Milton, of Snow Hill. She also had six granddaughters, Shelley Kittrell, Leslie Daniels, Laura McGee, Kathryn Chadwick, Sarah Beaman and Amanda Beaman. She had 6 great-grandchildren and a sister, Pauline DeLisle of Washington State.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roma Salter and her parents, Hubert and Katherine Flerchinger, a brother, Hubert, and a son-in-law, William E. Smith, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Marshallberg Community Club's "Save The Harbor Fund", P. O. Box 55, Marshallberg, NC 28553.
A celebration of Betty's life will take place on Saturday, July 31st at 6:30 p.m. at 520 Stacy Loop Road, the home of Larry and Tweedles.
